Part of the charm about buying a home in small or smaller community are the events that take place. It is great to take the family, somewhere local, on the weekend to participate in the celebrations. It is good to be able to celebrate the more known events as well as ones that have been passed down from generations within a community. One such event, or events, are taking place this weekend in Fort Collins.
This weekend everyone is Irish! St Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17th every year. Historically, St Patrick’s Day was to celebrate the Roman Catholic saint, St. Patrick. St Patrick wasn’t even Irish, but he had a sordid history that included being kidnapped from Britain and brought to Ireland. Short history is that he escaped and decided to convert to Christianity and went back to Ireland as a missionary. This is all in the early 400 years.
During our Revolutionary War, Irish soldiers held the first St Patrick’s Day parades. This has turned into a tradition around the USA, to celebrate being Irish. It’s also a good Spring celebration to say the least. Although Fort Collins is not having a parade this year, it is holding lots of other events in and around the area.
From Northern Colorado Speaks online publication there are events being held, all over Fort Collins, Greeley, and Loveland. There is something for everyone to participate in that is family friendly, exercise driven, mystical, organic, and of course, brews! Being a part of a community not only provides fun activities to do, but also, if you ever want to be on the other side, it’s a great way to volunteer. Buying a new home doesn’t just have to be about your home structure, but what can be experienced in the greater community as well.
Don’t miss out on these weekend events and Happy St Patrick’s Day to all.
