I understand. The holidays are coming. Relatives are coming. Nobody has time to make huge changes to their home at this point in the year. The fact is, very few of us have the resources (time, money, time, energy…time!) to make big adjustments or improvements to your Fort Collins CO house before company arrives OR, more importantly, before the next showing. Here are a few tips you can tackle in just a couple minutes, that are sure to improve your chances of a sale (or at least avoid the wrath of your mother-in-law).
Dusting is an often overlooked, but never missed by buyers, item that is quick and easy and has universal appeal. Nobody wants to see dust bunnies scurrying around your kitchen during a showing so take a few minutes and clean up the floors and furniture. Again, this is one of those projects that has large returns on a small investment. The same can be said for cleaning up your counters.
As you know, I’m a stickler for a lack of clutter. That goes for the other 11 months of the year as well, but certainly for showings. Cleaning off the counter tops (and I don’t care where you throw all that stuff!) can be a great way to increase the appeal of your home and the virtual size of the kitchen. This goes for the sink as well. Put the sponges and soaps underneath and just display a clean, empty counterspace and sink.
Lastly, for today, is the sheets and towels. Make sure your bed is made and tidy up the linen closet being sure that all the sheets and towels in there are folded and neat. While this may seem trivial, it is an easy step to take since you know they buyers (and your inlaws) are going to open every door and cabinet in the house!
